  2. "Call Me" is a song originally performed by Blondie that is covered by The Chipmunks in the album Chipmunk Punk. This song holds significance as the track that sparked the first revival of the franchise with the creation of the album. After DJ Chuck Taylor sped up the song and claimed it was the group's new single, demand for the song compelled Ross Bagdasarian, Jr. and Janice Karman to create.

  3. On the positive note, the song selection for this album is rather creative for the era. Tom Petty's Refugee is a great song that they squeak through rather well. Blondie's Call Me is also a great 's period selection for these wretched rodents to sing and they're not too far from Debby Harry's voice.

The inspiration for the album came when KMET DJ Chuck Taylor played the 12" version of the Blondie song "Call Me" at double speed and announced, in jest, that it was the Chipmunks' latest single. So many requests came for this "new" Chipmunks release, that Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and his collaborator Steve Vining rushed to record this album.
